May 25 Pitbull Mass Mutual Center Springfield MA, Friday May 24th, 2013
This guy is pure perv but someone blended in to that ‘gushy stuff’ is a comedy that I cannot resist. On this rainy night I headed to Springfield MA to see Mr. Worldwide. Springfield is infamous for its Latin community and bad ass gangs.

May 25 Friends Of The Viper Room, An Upcoming Documentary About The Famous Los Angeles NightClub
he dark and tiny nightclub – I have been inside several times and it’s quite small, especially the toilets! – was originally opened by Johnny Depp, and has been the place to be on a Saturday night since the 90s, the place where some celebrities like Mick Jagger, Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billy Idol, or Iggy Pop would occasionally make a surprise apparition late at night

May 25 Pussy Riot’s Maria Alyokhina On Hunger Strike
There is nothing wrong with mankind’s ADHD when it comes to injustice. We’re just trying to pay our bills and not kill our bosses to really spend too much time worrying about rebellious entertainers and their antics. I mean c’mon this week we had terror slashings and tornadoes, some freak Russian broad falls of the radar pretty quick.

May 25 Elarica Gallacher Is Gaye
She is an English actress and model named Elarica Gallacher and she is still gorgeous and she is playing Marvin Gayes wife (second wife is my bet, she sure ain’t Berry Gordy’s sister) in the Marvin Gaye movie waiting in the wings.

May 25 rock nyc Top 10 Songs Week Of May 20th, 2013
Vampire Weekend actually have three songs that could appear on this list at any given time, “Unbelievers” is the third. As for The National, I only got it Thursday morning so it is bubbling somewhere in the back of my pleasure zone but hasn’t worked its way all the way there. Holy Ghost! tonight as part of the all night DFA Records celebrations by the by.

May 25 Winner And Winner Week Of May 20th, 2013: Chanel West Coast and Tom Petty
While casually charming us to death here at rock nyc central, the MTV reality star proceeded to advise she had signed for another season of “Ridiculousness” and would be spending the summer on the Lil Wayne tour. All of which is well and good but to go home schooled at fifteen and manage to network yourself into a career by nineteen. And be lovely and not and all a diva. A winner in my book.

May 25 Ridley Scott Is Producing ‘Springsteen & I’, A Documentary About The Boss From The Fans’ Point Of View
What I get from this short one-minute-and-half tease, is a feeling of togetherness expressed by all these people, who are all united under the same unconditional love for the boss. Think what you want about Springsteen, but there’s obviously something special about him to command such a huge crowd.

May 25 Four Years Of May Concerts! 2010 – 2013!
Lana Mir World Dommination Tour Here we go again, through the past darkly with a look back at four years of Mays and starting with one of the loveliest singers rock nyc ever ever covered. This is another case where I could’ve sworn she would’ve broken through but it is such a crap shoot. She had the songs, the looks, the smarts but four years later… Here we go again, through the past darkly with a look back at four years of Mays and starting with one of the loveliest singers rock nyc ever ever covered

May 25 Hear Ye: What rock nyc Is Listening To 5-25-13
I am seriously looking forward to seeing Neville live. I think I’ve seen him before doing a couple of songs with Linda Ronstadt but otherwise this is the first time ever and I really love his voice. But this is really all about Petty and the return of the rock and roll star knocking the Beacon on its collective keister.

May 24 Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers At Beacon Theater, Thursday, May 23rd, 2013, Reviewed
Petty isn’t married to the obscurities all new songs concept though it helps him bring a freshness to the hits. The first two songs of the night haven’t changed all tour and the last song has remained constant

May 24 Young Money’s Latest Signing Chanel West Coast Visits rock nyc
The hard thing to keep in sight is that she is a self-made woman. In press releases and MTV shows, there are two realities sort of colliding but speaking to her, she’s just a kid who has worked very very hard to put herself in a position to succeed

May 24 Daughter At Amoeba, Wednesday May 22nd 2013
Despite all this darkness and bleakness, the trio was very jovial, Elena Tonra was giggling all the time, and she thanked many times the crowd for ‘being so nice’. They have just released their first LP ‘If You Leave’, were signing copies after the show, and all these people in line had certainly perceived the emotional and painful beauty of Daughter’s songs

May 24 Revolt TV, P. Diddys Next Big Thing
How exactly does he intend on making singers more genuine? What the hell is he on about? So basically this is Diddy TV where he and his friends can self pleasure and we can watch. Simple as that. I have a funny feeling theres gonna be a lot of infomercials

May 24 I Downloaded The New The National Off ITunes…
I am not a huge National fan, if I were I would have bought it on Tuesday when it was released, the same way I did with Vampire Weekend. Tuesday is new music day and there is so much on Spotify I won’t usually buy much off Itunes

May 24 Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s Baby Shower Invitation
So what do you think, is it inventive and classy or pretentious and self-centered? People are saying it has to be a girl because of the girlie nature of the invite, but who knows with these two?

It’s so odd sometime.  Growing up you don’t think of longevity of greatness.  None of us thought pop stars like Cyndi Lauper would still be around.  I mean not dead but rather still in the news.  Its always so wonderful to see people from ‘back in the day’ doing grown up things that are impressively cool.

“We Want To Really Engage, Bring It Right To The Audience”: Arthur Preisser and Randy Weiner’s “King Kong”

IMG_0713 (2)In 1977, Arthur Preisser was living on a farm with only land as far as the eye could see and with nary a dream of an Empire State Building on the endless horizon. Randy Weiner was a classic white kid and son of a New York attorney and the closest he got to the New York City as Sodom and Gomorra was looking at it from the window of his Daddy’s car.
