Welsh rock group The Lost Prophets blew me away at Warped Tour. Squished on half a stage they took the hum drum room to frenzy in a 20 minute set. I was familiar with their work and their tune "Rooftops" is such an anthem to allot of kids-speaking of kids..
What the heck with this latest buzz that Ian Watkins got busted for some heavy duty sex crimes. The front man is seems to have got himself in a heap of trouble. I am a firm believer in 'innocent til proven' but the band offers this cryptic statement:
The band has issued the following statement in the wake of the news:
"Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers."
Yikes, there is no 'truth will be told' or 'we refuse to believe the false allegation'. In other words, the band is sorta remaining aloof. He is charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children
Along with two females aged 20 and 24 Watkins will be held until trial and all views show not so optimistic.
Senior investigating officer Detective Peter Doyle said: "Specially-trained staff are available to speak to anyone with concerns or information regarding this investigation and a dedicated telephone number has been set up.
"I want to encourage anyone who has any concerns or information which they think may be relevant to contact us.
"Safeguarding children involved in such cases is always a high priority and as such measures have already been taken."
They're making him out to be a serial rapist or something. Lock up your daughters. I'm sure there are more details to come… stay tuned.
I don’t know if Ian Watkins is guilty or not but I know from personal experience the damage FALSE allegations of serious sexual assault made by a minor can do. my son was 19 and in the army when a girl ~ for reasons known only to herself ~ accused of committing a violent, prolonged and vicious sexual assault that resulted in him having to stand trial on three counts of rape. After 12 months of having to listen to this girl, her friends & family bang on about “evidence” and how my son “must be guilty because he had been charged” he was finally found NOT GUILTY by unanimous verdict. The “evidence” was non~existent, not a single shred of medical, DNA or even evidence that any sexual activity had taken place (even the girl’s hymen was completely intact) yet my son has his name dragged through the mud with the local paper sitting in court the first day of trial long enough to hear the prosecution’s opening statement before printing it in the paper as if it were the gospel according to St. John.
The only reason my son was not remanded on these charges was because he is a soldier and his regiment vouched for him. I cannot begin to fathom why this girl said what she said but my family is still living with the consequences some 18 months later because this girl, her family and friends believe they are untouchable and I firmly believe my son was only prosecuted because of the girl’ s age when she made the allegations.
this is why I will not judge this man. I have read so much bile written about him which NO ONE has any clear evidence to back up and I am not at all surprised by the number of people who have tried and convicted him in the court of public opinion. it’s shocking ~ but then the fact that these allegations may not be true is no where near as interesting. The police CAN and DO charge people with crimes everyday with little or no evidence and this is why we have courts to make sure that these people are in fact guilty of what they have been accused.
All that is left for me to say is INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!!
