NBC’s “Nashville” and Big Machine Records Rule Wednesdays

I find it amusing that I write about television so much but really never watch much more than reality TV.  There is something about following the lives of others that I find boring.  I don’t really care about them so why would I see what sort of silly scenario they’ve gotten themselves in to this time?

I am very much in the minority and it seems there is a huge buzz about a new series with a musical twist.

The NBC series “Nashville” is all the rage right now.  There are more people talking about it than the Vice Presidential debate (though that isn’t saying too much).  My big wonder is where did Hayden Panettiere  get those boobs cuz they BAM came out of nowhere.

Nine million people tuned in to see veteran country singer Rayna Jaymes (played by Connie Britton) face off against young starlet rival Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) as she struggles to keep her career together.  Big Machine Records, is in partnership with the show offering the bonus of releasing music from the TV series and also be involved with the plot line.

Does Big Machine sound familiar to you?  Maybe not but they’re the folks who gave Taylor Swift her big break and there is more where that came from .  Scott Borchetta is the founder of Big Machine and is thrilled to be in partnership with a TV show.  Think about it the opportunities are endless!

Expect a lot of ‘new’ Nashville folk to get cameo roles, it could well turn in to a showcase for the label itself.

"You take the craziest parts of the old TV show 'Dallas' and smash it into the Nashville record industry, and you've got this show that might just end up being a huge hit," Borchetta said.

I’m thinking this one isn’t going to go away very soon.
