"Monterey Summer of Love Festival 2012 – 45 Years Later" is comin’.  Sponsored by the San Francisco Retro Artists Group September 29th the clock will roll back to 1967 and for a few hours you can let your freak flag fly.  Psychedelic icons will perform this year and Im fairly certain there is some heavy duty wear and tear on these folks.

Big Brother and the Holding Company, Barry McGuire and John York, It's a Beautiful Day and the Standells are headlining along with icons from The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service and the Grateful Dead. The event will also feature the return of 'The Beau Brummels' with original singer Sal Valentino and 'The Sopwith Camel' who's hit 'Hello Hello' was a first from the Love generation bands.   Arent any of thee people dead yet?

Of course!

Which is  why the event will also feature ‘tribute acts’ such as "San Francisco's Summer of Love Revue" including Carlton Poward as 'Experience Jimi', 'Dream a L'il Dream' as The Mamas and the Papas, 'The Who's Next' as The Who and 'Spill the Wine' as Eric Burdon & the Animals. "Experience Jimi' will re-enact the burning Stratocaster scene from exactly where it happened 45 years.  Not kidding.

Those people who were celebrating the summer of love are now in their mid 60’s and early 70s. Think of that and its astounding.  Its like a giant Centrum Silver ad, the handicapped parking places will be jammed packed and Life Alert will be on standby.  Im kidding. This event is for the pathetic little upstart poser hippies who pretend that they even know what ‘the summer of love’ was and use it as an excuse to get wasted.

Party on man….
