1. Angels – The xx – Based solely upon my adoration of this gorgeous song, if I had no day job, I would go to T5 on Thursday to check these guys out. It is odd how all it takes is one perfect moment, here a haunted brilliance which, if re-arranged for piano, would fit in the new Regina Spektor and, if the aural dynamic was changed, PJ Harvey's Is This Desire – Grade: A

2. Jerusalem – King's College Choir – The organ over powers the song but it has a nostalgia hit for me. I spent years of my life at boarding school singing this every morning – Grade: B (for this arrangement, the hymn itself is an A+)

3.  People = Shit – Slipknot – Sorta anti-Jerusalem bowels of hell, punk snap, loud honest roar – Grade: A

4. Jersey Girl (Live) – Bruce Springsteen – I have actually heard him perform this live once, maybe 2000, but this off the 1975-1985 live package, is stand out by any standards. Tom wait couldn't have asked for more – Grade: A

5. My Stunning Mystery Companion – Jackson Browne – Better than any song Bruce or Bono have released in the 21st century – Grade: A

6. I Wanna Be A Vicar – Thee Vicars – Word is filtering out that Chris Langeland has committed suicide. But there appears to be nothing else out there – Grade: A

7. Seek It Out – Fang Island – This song is sooooo good,  I bought a tix to see em at MHOW on the strength of it – Grade: A

8. Hurt Like Heaven – Coldplay – Chris Martin justifies his existence once again – Grade: B+

9. Midnight Moses – The Sensational Alex Harvey – A mix of Brit garage, Brit pub, Brit glam and Brit prog, this is proto-Alice Cooper for English gents – Grade: B+

10. I'll Be Alright – Passion Pit – Inspired use of a sequencer – Grade: B+
