The Dalai Lama’s Tribute To Adam Yauch

Forget about Coldplay, Madonna, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and other musicians, when the Dalai Lama pay homage to you, you must have been doing something right in this word.

This is what a spokesperson for the Dalai Lama declared to the Daily Mail about Adam Yauch: ‘Adam had helped us raise awareness on the plight of the Tibetan people by organizing various freedom Tibet concerts and he will be remembered by his holiness and the Tibetan people’.

MCA, who became a Buddhist in 1994, met with the Daila Lama several times, he even interviewed him. His work became really influenced by his new-found religion and Yauch founded and donated to the Milarepa Fund which he set up to promote awareness of the Tibetan independence movement. He helped organize the Tibetan Freedom Concert in 1996 which triggered a Free Tibet Tour and many other pro-Tibet actions.

I may not share the Daila Lama’s spiritual convictions (you know, the reincarnation stuff is plain crazy to me) but his message of love and peace is a very positive one, and being recognized by such a man tells a lot about who Adam Yauch was.
