Rock The Bells
Rock The Bells

Hmmm, is it me or is there nothing wrong with this years "Rock The Bells"? Here are the names for the PNC Banks Art Center gig in New Jersey, Saturday, September 1st and Sunday, September 2nd.

"Watsky, Tyga, RZA, MC Supernatural, Slick Rick, Schoolboy Q, Salt-N-Pepa, Redman, Prodigy, Naughty By Nature, Nas, Murs, J. Cole, Immortal Technique, Ice Cube, Hit Squad, Fashawn, Zion I & The Grouch, Eligh, Dom Kennedy, DJ Quik, DJ Lance, Dipset, Deltron 3030, Common, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Big Daddy Kane and 2 Chainz.

Here is the problem, and it is not the Old School nature 1990s quotient hip hop travelers, it is the lack of a really big name. From Slick rick to Salt N Peppa, the last hit these guys had were in a previous century. So, if the biggest name you have is the ubiquitous Nas, who needs it?

Who needs a Festival with nothing to be festive over? Who needs to see their biggest current name, Tyga, from fifty fucking miles away.

Caveat Emptor or come up empty!
