Must See: Jayne County At Bowery Electric, June 7th, 2012

From Wayne to Jayne, if you think Tom Gabel is the only person who can realign themselves and rock out in heels, you can fuck off.

Jayne county is headlining a Max's Kansas City alumni night on Bowery Electric on Thursday June 6th, a five band extravaganza for $20. And the cherry on top, a better headliner than the entire overdone CBBS' festival, is the terrific woman and her band the Electric Chairs.

The Electric Chairs were mainstays of the late 1970s punk palaces, though not really punk as written. More hard rockers affianced to 1950s rock and piano based boogie. "Fuck Off" was a regional hit and "Max's Kansas City" a theme song. And Jayne came across like a post-modern performance artist wacko reject from the chorus at "Cabaret". But, as she went all the way through her sex change, perhaps realer than most.

At the Bowery Electric gig, she is supported by some pretty hard rocking bands, THE RATTLERS, SEA MONSTER,RUBY & THE REDNECKS and NEW YORK JUNK. Though with a 6pm start, if you go you'll be lucky if Jayne hits the stage before 11pm… too late for me.

I haven't seen her in 35 years so if it wasn't for the too many openers, if she was going on at 10pm, I'd have sucked it up.

If you go, ask for "Bad In Bed"!
