Best Superbowl Commercials -Rock N Roll Style!

So how were the ads music wise this year? Not bad, not great. Mostly, Elton John ruled and Pepsi whomped the football playing bears.

Here are my three faves.

1. The Budweiser Light Platinum, an attempt to market an upscale light beer, was my favorite musical moment of the night. It was simplicity itself. Just the bottle being manfactured to the sound of Kanye West's iconic (already iconic!) notes that open "Runaway" building to repeated cries of "Lookatcha". A great commencial.

2. Pepsi featured Elton John as a medievek King doling out Pepsi or, well, nothing, to contestants of singing contest. Apparently, "Hott In Here" didn't go down too well, though X Factor winner Melanie Amaro did a whole lot better. Flavor Flav also makes an appearance.

3. Galaxy -the one that included Darkness, was really fucking wild. A multi colored dream, and to be honest, made Apple seem a little passe. Apple didn't even bother. I guess they figured they'd stick the 3.5M in the sock drawer.
