Iman and hel Do SNL: The Black Keys

The Black Keys, Black Flag, Black Lips, Black Dahlia Murders, Black Veil Brides, Black Sabbath, black black b…get it?  So just in the name I can say it was too confusing and unoriginal to pursue.

Akron Ohio's vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer/producer Patrick Carney, are a two man wonderjam.  So much wonderful press from 'those in the know' and hipster galore.  It's one of those under burning bands that everyone 'loves' but no one can pinpoint a definitive tune.. or why.

The adorable video for 'Tighten Up', is only overshadowed by the annoying whistle and drone vocals.  I like Patrick I've decided. And any boy who carries donuts in their pockets is THE MAN!  But again my opinion is based solely upon their 'hit'.

They aren't as horrible as most ,not as great as I'm told, but they're a rock and roll band (though they consider themselves a blues duo in the footsteps of the White Stripes) and well perhaps their flannel loving fans will perk up tonights Saturday Night Live?  Yeah, we doubt that as well.  But here we are snuggled up with remotes ready to see if even a 3 minute break in the horror SNL has become can fire us up into a rockin weekend.

The guys opt for a hepped up "Lonely Boy"

Who the hell was at the sound board? This is very much live as the vocals are so far back you can hardly hear them. BUT my favorite 'Key' sounds hunky dorky (yes I meant that) and despite feeling sorta band for the add a band members tucked up behind the duo the song is as bland as can be.  To do that energy burst guitar solo looks absurd and the muffled lyric just makes it worse.  They may have a love to keep them waiting but I wont be waiting for the second song that's for sure.

And this is why Iman and I are such a great team- we couldn't be more opposite. Iman writes: "The song is much better live than recorded. These guys are the best blues rockers in the world. Loved it."
