Sweatshirt Weather is way more than “Getting By”

I
I love that feeling of excitement when you listen to a really good band.  It doesn't really happen all the much now, considering a lot of bands just sound the same.  However, getting that spark from music is what makes a band great.

"Getting By", is the new EP from Indianapolis natives Sweatshirt Weather.  I don't think I've liked a band from the second I popped in their EP…..ever.  Usually it takes time for me to get into a song or a band.  But this?  As soon as it started I was hooked.

The song "Be Someone" let me know from the first few seconds that this band was something special.  The instant I heard the singers voice, it put them apart from all of those wannabe pop-rock bands.  It gave them an edge.  Everything just followed from there- the instruments have something about them that make me want to keep on listening.

"Down On My Luck" is so catchy and fun.  It had so much potential to be one of those really cliche pop punk tunes, but it veers far from that with the unexpected riffs, singer's voice, and unique tempo.  I played it over and over again, I can't get enough.  It's a real twist on what I thought it would be originally and it makes me really intrigued.

"However We Can" is my favourite tune by them.  I can't stop listening to it.  Every instrument is in sync, each part of it flawless.  It's stunning to hear something that there isn't even a part that I moderately dislike.  The lyrics are lovely, the writing style perfection because the emotion is portrayed really well with the instruments to accompany it.  It feels effortless, and it's easily their best song.

Their song "Midwestern Love" is stunning.  Everything just flows.  Something about it makes it a great song for the transition from summer to autumn.  The feeling of warmth from the tempo, the singer's voice, and the guitar, bass and drums just make it so appealing.

"Open Up The Sky" is a beautiful song.  It's so addictive, everything about it kept me on the edge of my seat.  I haven't heard anything like it before, I love it.  It's the closing track and really left me wanting much, much more.  It's enchanting, and just makes me want to put the album on repeat.

Sweatshirt Weather is one of my new favourite bands.  They're one of a kind, and absolutely wonderful.  Everyone should keep an eye on them, before they get ridiculously popular.
