rock nyc – we are pro music
rock nyc – we are pro music
We got a very nice comment from former Astro Puppies, current solo artist Kelley Ryan after I reviewed “About A Girl” and Nessing reviewed her new album Twist. I am going to give another go at the album (not because Nessing’s isn’t definitive in my book -but because, Nessing writes about music and I write about culture).
The point of this post is to express why I am so happy to have heard from Kelley.

When I was a freelancer the only time I heard from the people who read me was the occasional death threat. The joy of blogging is the joy of sharing the music we find with people who wouldn’t hear it otherwise. We are promoters and we promote those we love and when our efforts are appreciated by the people we are writing about it is icing on the cake.

I (personally) try not to write negatively about musicians under a certain size. If I can hurt a struggling band by a negative review I tend not to write it. The big boys? Well, the blog speaks for itself. The bigger they are, the harder we hit.
Nearly a year into this, and despite the small readership, it is proving to be one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and having Kelley Ryan offer her appreciation of our efforts validates it to a degree. If you buy Twist it would validate it more!
Plus? Nessing is a fucking great writer.
