Top 5 releases of 2009

1- Approaching Normal-Blue October
THE album of the year. You don’t have to be a Blue October fan to find something on this release that strikes a chord. Furstenfeld is a manic genius painting a schizophrenic board game of happy to sad to fatherly to sexual angst to bullying demands and ultimately kills you in the end. LOVE this band. Its a dizzy trip to hell and back with them. Yup. And Justin is smmmmmmmmmmokin hot which allows him a multitude of sins.

2- Hazards of Love-The Decemberists
I’m an absolute ass for not loving this sooner. But I suppose I was busy complaining that 2009 was going to suck to notice. Then of course all the Whole Foods shoppers starting going all Decemberists so I turned my back so I wouldn’t get tucked into the tofu club. But my God great melody’s haunting worlds deep and layered sounds and a bit of fun. I want to see them live I want to join the band I want more more more .. like NOW.

3.Attics to Eden- Madina Lake
How many times can I mention the best unsung band of all time? How long are they going to fly under the radar and why?! Please if check these guys out.

Just do it. Go now.. quit reading Madina Lake.. scoot come back tell me you don’t love them.

4- White Ink Black Ink- Wheat
Ahhh Scott Levesque is fanzazzztic here with some of those gruff vocals that make ya swoon. Half of the Time is a killer song which pretty much was my entire 2009 mind set. And that’s a good thing.

5- Raditude- Weezer
just cuz its Weezer and if it weren’t for Weezer. Robert Nevin wouldn’t have said.,” I have this friend who writes a blog”…..just for the record.. that was only 4 months ago.
