Feb 06 Pissed Jeans At Le Poisson Rouge, Friday, February 4th, 2012, Reviewed
I like the liquidity, there is something sinuous about the band as they go about the hardcore rituals they are saddled with.Even the name Pissed Jeans suggest things about bodily fluids and discharges. They slip and slide through punk, prog, hardcore. They are lizard kings of jeans

he started singing the western-ambiance-hymn-to-Jesus ‘Long Lost Friend’, and some melancholic instrumentals that sounded right away very familiar

Feb 06 Madonna’s Half Time Super Bowl Show Reviewed
So with the world watching, Madonna enters the field to Vogue, as though she is three types of Cleopatra’s and proceeds to, well, vogue. The sound is loud and tinny, and, never a particularly melodic song, it is all dance moves and bass bottom. Who is playing? Sounds like DJs and backing tapes to me.

Feb 06 “Here Come’s The Sun”, Beatle Guitar Solo Discovered
I have stated before how fantastic it can be to hear a song through different channels but what was found here is a pretty slamming guitar solo. In this video, at about 1:01 is the lightbulb moment when the solo is discovered.

Feb 06 Why Doesn’t Justin Vernon Want To Play The Grammy’s? Because He’s A Big Egoed Tool
Vernon was actually asked to perform as part of a performance with another artist, as he explained: ‘We wanted to play our music, but were told that we couldn’t play. We had to do a collaboration with someone else’.

Feb 06 The Cult and Flo Rida, Mash Up The Super Bowl
One game two teams and everyone has something to say about it. You’re either a football fan or your a Superbowl fan, the line blurs. Its really a day for non sport fans to eat wings and scream in the living room without the commitment of actually supporting a team.

Feb 06 La Dispute on tour for “Wildlife”
When good bands tour together, it’s a sign that music isn’t complete rubbish. La Dispute, Balance and Composure, Sainthood Reps and All Get Out are all doing a tour in North America.

Die Antwoord is on Letterman, theyre freaky as hell and everyone spells it Die Antwood, which is amussing. But best of all? The freakin Fray- yup the white rice of rock and roll, there to sit like a lump in your brain. Mindless shotglass of bile..Id rather swallow a remote.

Feb 06 UK Top Ten Albums, February 11th, 2012
The problem with Lana’s album is the great thing about Cohen’s: the production. It is so de rigeur. The beats are so received, so often heard, so similar and so kinda out of place. Whatever you wanna say about Cohen, it sounds exactly like itself

Feb 06 Lana Del Rey On Letterman
I Born To Die is an excellent album, I thought she was fine on SNL and though I am a touch tired of “Video Games” by now, she is first rate here, singing the aforementioned on the Letterman Show.

Dance is changing over the last couple of months. If its emotional concerns are still somewhat on the lame side, the flip is a musical deepening of the sound. “We Found Love” is one, “Titanium” is another

OMG Taylor Swift's Playlist Off Itunes

Taylor Swift put her playlist on Itunes this week and here it is!!! Apparently all her taste is in her mouth because this is as lame a playlist as I’ve ever seen. Owl City? Nickelback? Brandi Carlisle is great but other there is nobody much worth listening. I could make her a better playlist, more contemporary, and more fun in two minutes flat.. Little country, no dance, just MOR hip hop and MOR faux rock. Ugh.
Smile – Uncle Kracker
Vamila Tonight – Owl City
Down (feat Lil Wayne) – Jay Sean
Happier – A Fine Frenzy
One Time – Justin Bieber
Juliet – LMNT
Breakeven – The Script
What Up Gangsta – 50 Cent
Never Gonna Be Alone – Nickelback

Haste The Day and No Less Than Everything: To Have And Have Not by Helen Bach

Hell hath no fury like Helen Bach thwarted in her ongoing quest for a great underground rock band…

I am a big fan of the ‘underground’ I take great pride in saying Ive seen bands in crappy venues before they make it. So every year I make it a personal mission to consume as much undiscovered music as possible. Most times i find some real gems.. Elotheos is one. But I also find giant buckets of garbage.

Im finally can announce my Worse Indy Show of the Year Award..2009.

Haste The Day Bridgeport CT 10/30/09

I have never in my entire long long life of concert viewing seen a more pathetic array of talentless testosterone.

Haste the Day was promised to be an ‘amazing show’ it was so far from amazing it was disgusting.

Lets start it off by saying that HTD formed in 2001…….Eight years later theyre still playing Church basements. Does that give you a clearer picture? I had never heard them I went in semi clear headed I was pumped to see the venue (a horror packed inner city church surrounded by crack houses and ho’s!! AWESOME!) The problem with HTD could be the singer. I dont like being preached to but I expected to be considering this was Christian Core.. but what a disrespectful fuck spits on the floor of a church as he preaches? I swear to you it took all I could not to jump on that stage and pound the hell out of the arrogant bastard. I hope he has a good education, rich parents or a girl with a nice office job, either that or I hope the bastard sees the light one day. He can go sit in the Bono room.. wait… hes not even worth that.

HTD was preceded by 4 other bands that were nothing but same ol same ol gutteral yelling, a bit of eye candy as the lead singer of Heal These Wounds has Justin Furstenfelds eyes (wooooop!)..BUT WAIT… after almost wanting to throw myself into the quasi mosh pit.. (which at times was so poorly formed i thought it was a Jazzercise class) and the last opener before HATE THE DAY slathered on to the stage was a …. why yes indeed Helen… you found one

I found something to like!

No Less Than Everything.

I cut and pasted this from their myspace: (call the web sherriff!!)

“No Less Than Everything is a melodic metal band from southern Connecticut that formed in June of 2003. The band is led by Jason Crumb on vox, Dave Celozzi and Gary Crumb on guitars, Mike Jackson on drums, and Tom Hawes on bass. With influences such as Zao, Norma Jean, and Living Sacrifice they bring an old school groove combined with a touch of new school chaos, while at the same time sustaining a melodic element to their sound. Drummer Mike Jackson adds more color to the spectrum with the subtleties of Latin jazz and African tribal rhythms. No Less Than Everything brings a passion and intensity to the stage that creates an intoxicating atmosphere. Combine that energy with sincerity in every word sung and you will see that they are not only there to entertain you, but to reach you. The bands main focus is to give their listeners a sense of hope, in a world where we could all use a little.”

and guess what.. they werent arrogant hypocrites. These are regular guys who need a break. Im convinced that they are family men with day jobs and a dream. I have not been to an underground gig and watch a band that was so cohesive and yeah perhaps the 3 bro’s help with that but thats not all.Maybe they arent all flash and ‘tude. They are talent and sincerity. They are unique and powerful. Mid way through the show I wanted to freakin SCREAM a thank you to them. THANK YOU for renewing my faith in this entire sub catagory of bullshit. Theyre the real deal!! HURRRAYYYYY

Iman you mentioned readership is up.. Im making a personal plea.. I want the NYC Hardcore scene to experience these guys. Im making it a mission to promote them and hell hath no fury like me…

So listen up…

Haste the Day should be wiping No Less Than Everythings spit off the floor……..No wait………NLTE are far too cool to stoop that low

Rock on guys, thank you for making my night.
